Many of us have children, and as those of you who have kids know, it can be very trying. Here's an example, usually my youngest daughter naps but my son doesn't and if he does, he won't go to bed until 9 or 10 at night, which can be very frustrating when there are things that need to be done. I'm going to be honest with you, a lot of times I have issues remembering to call upon God, I'm not perfect! Nobody is.
Anyways, we all know, meals have to be prepared, diapers changed, playing, cleaning, putting up clothes, etc. it all has to be done! Then on top of all of that, if your child tends to have a temper fit, like most toddlers, you have that stress on you as well.
With all the mom/dad shaming, it's hard to feel like you do anything right, in a world full of judgmental people! Well, here are some things that God has said to do and not to do, maybe it'll help you out a little, I know it has me when I get discouraged. Psalm 127:3 "Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." even if you feel your sometimes not so sweet child or children are being terrors, remember, children are blessings and are to be treated as such! Ephesians 6:4 "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." parents, if you think it's funny to do something to upset your kid, or pick at him or her, it's not, you are causing your child to get angry and God does not like that, nurture and love them, though sometimes it's hard not to get upset, we need to call on God and as Him to help us and to show us what to do.
Proverbs 23:13 "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die." This is saying, spanking, IS ok and it IS approved by God, this does not mean to beat the holy light out of your child, this is saying on their bottoms, no marks left, correcting your child. You may break their heart, that's what you need to do, but don't hurt them, and NEVER discipline out of anger!
Proverbs 13:24 " He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes." Again, if you don't discipline your children, you are teaching them that you don't care, chastening is when you discipline and still show them you love them, but what they did was wrong!
Though sometimes, it's not easy being a parent and we are held to really high standards by God, He will also show us the way to go, because He is the one telling us how to raise our children. People say children don't come with a hand book, well, I beg to differ, read your bible and really study it and you will learn how to properly raise your children.
I know I don't want to stand in front of our Lord and Savior and have to try and explain why I didn't at least try to raise my children in the Godly manner that they are supposed to be raised in, I'm not sure why you would want to try and answer for that either!
I really hope that these verses helped you out a little and made you feel better or opened your eyes to how you parent. Remember, Jesus loves you, He died for you, so why should we think it's ok to do whatever we want, when we owe everything we have to Him?
