Blessings can be hard to see sometimes, especially if we are going through a rough patch! A lot of times, unless they're like huge, they're hard to spot, right? Sit down, with a pen and paper, and think of all the small and big blessings you've had today alone.. You either got right through it, or you struggled to think of any. I've been on both sides! Here's my list for today, and today alone, God didn't forget to wake me this morning, my children, fellowshipping at church while cleaning and organizing, bath time, showers, food, a roof over my head, my cat, my bed, my family and their support, some things that I've got lined up for myself, my friends and so on.
Sometimes it can be so hard to look at all the positives instead of the negatives, trust me, I get it! But sometimes, in order to get through the day, you need to sit down for just a second and make a list, even if it's mentally, of what your blessings just that day are!
James 1:17 "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." Everything good comes from God, so everything we see that are blessings, and more, we should thank Him for! God loves blessing us and if we do what we're supposed to we get more of them!
2 Corinthians 9:8 "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:" God is able to bless us immensely, always having what we need, we need to do His work to continue down His path and He will continue to bless. It's when we stray that we feel we don't see God's blessings any more than what we do! When our blessings start getting few and far between, maybe we should stop and take a look at our lives to see where we are sinning and haven't repented and where we can come closer to God. Usually in doing so, we are asking God to show us what we are doing that He does not approve of!
Philipians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Through God we have peace and understanding, and as long as we focus on Him, our hearts and our minds will be like Jesus'. I'm not saying we will be perfect, but we will thrive better than when we don't focus on God.
Philipians 4:19 "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus" If you notice, God keeps repeating Himself by saying that as long as you keep your eyes focused on Him, He will bless you. He still blesses even when we aren't focusing on Him, they just aren't like they would be if we were keeping our eyes on Him.
The biggest blessing that God has already given us, is the blessing of His son dying on that cross for us! When Jesus held all of our sins on His shoulders so that we could be saved and come to glory, that was the best and most valuable blessing of all, and it's free, to anyone who wants it. All they have to do is call upon the Lord and receive Him as their Lord and Savior and accept Him into their hearts and you will be accepting the greatest blessing of all time!
